Spocott
 Windmill
 in
 Action
Date: October 19
Location: Cambridge, MD. See the Spocott Windmill in action, grinding grain, from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, October 19 (weather permitting). Other buildings on the complex will also be open, and there will be exhibits and displays. The windmill is in action only a few times a year. Spocott Windmill, located at 1663 Hudson Road (Route 343) in Cambridge, Maryland, is a reconstruction of a windmill built by John Anthony LeCompte Radcliffe about 1852 and which blew down in a blizzard in 1888. The mill is an English post mill, with the entire housing resting on one post, allowing the entire building to be turned into the wind. The grounds have a tiny 19th century village of sorts with a country store and museum, a colonial cottage (circa 1800), schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, doctor’s office,  which will also be open for visits that day. For more information, call 410-228-7670.
